Here’s what I did to a poor innocent t-shirt today, instead of studying.
I must confess I got the idea from this amazing illustration by Annie Wu.
Well, see, what’s awkward about this is that I can’t even pretend I’m not creeping on Tumblr. But I digress…
You beat me to it! I’ve been trying to figure out a way to make that shirt work in the real world. You’ve definitely improved it; your version is executed beautifully. I love it.
Taking a cue from Annie Wu’s infamous punk redesign of the Justice League (as previously featured on FTFCS), Kiss Lee modified a black t-shirt into a stellar Batman top that we all now covet. Gorgeous work, Kiss!
Cat civvies [lookbook]
So all these Catwoman-themed posts just made me realize that I never posted this outfit that I wore at NYCC 2010! Since I had been modeling for Twin Bee on Sunday morning (hence my blissfully big hair), I opted for civvies for the rest of the day… however, I ended up channeling Selina Kyle in the process. :)

Sartorialist Meets Superhero: You’ll only ever see Selina Kyle once, but you’ll never forget her (or everything she stole from you).
On a sidenote, I don’t think I do that patch-pocket on the skirt justice, because it really is something to admire. Take a look at the outfit here!
Selina looks so divine in white. Plus, she’d totes love that sneaky patch pocket.
Panther glasses, Givenchy (Fall 2011), $574-640.
These cat-eyed frames are fit for Selina Kyle.
Plus, the little panthers resting on the temples totally remind me of Catwoman’s cat-shaped pistol in the 1960’s Batman series:
Kid Flash inspi fashion sketch. Sporty and playfully tough!
Suggestions on how to achieve this look~
- Loose fitting, boat-neck yellow top with crop sleeves. The top isn’t suppose to be a midriff (unless you want it to be) but rather a shirt that stops right where the shorts start. A long shirt will also do, tuck in or just leave out is cool either way.
- Paint a red lighting bolt on the front either using fabric paint, use a stencil and spray paint it, or if you can: screen print!
- Red shorts.
- Yellow belt, yellow studs op.
- Red leggings is op.
- Yellow high-top shoes.
- Red knee highs folded down.
- Sporty red sunglasses.
- Red fingerless gloves is op. You can also put on red and/or yellow bracelets instead.
By default, I love almost every outfit that is predominantly red and yellow, so while this is sportier than my personal fashion tastes, it still dig it. Because I’m not crazy about the red bike short leggings under the red shorts, I would switch them out for red knee high socks with sneakers. However, I love that Flash crop top and those amazing gloves!
Aaaand last one before lunch break time. Mod peej. I’d like to redraw this style for a few other characters…
The ever-stellar Kate redesigned Power Girl’s outfit as a mod ensemble for a private commission, and now I feel compelled to make/recreate this outfit ASAP. Peej’s signature boob window translates impeccably as a keyhole mini dress, while the color-blocking on the dress bluntly resembles the sash of her red cape and her bold blue belt. Coordinate with chunky accessories and Peej’s blue knee-high boots and you’re good to go-go! All you need to complete your outfit is Terra in a black and white color-blocked shift dress :)
On a side note, I really hope that Kate whips up some more mod superhero redesigns in the near future - mod fashion and superhero costumes are seriously my two favorite things ever*.
